Volunteer Opportunities

• Adopt A Senior Program: This is a winter holiday program that matches donors with Bayside clients to ensure that these seniors enjoy a happy holiday. Seniors provide a "wishlist" of needed items which donors may choose to purchase. Donors will then have the opportunity to anonymously donate the items or choose to bring the items to the senior directly and enjoy a cup of holiday cheer together. This is a wonderful chance to not only spend time with Bayside seniors, but also help them in attaining some of their needs for the holidays while lifting their spirits! This is a great opportunity for groups or corporate giving. This program will being again in October 2012.

• In home senior companion: Volunteer to provide regularly scheduled visits to Linda Vista residents who spend a lot of time in isolation. Volunteers make weekly or biweekly appointments with seniors, a visit might include playing cards, reading aloud, watching television or simply enjoying a cup of tea and a conversation. By spending time with those who have little connection to their family or community, you will help them live a longer, dignified life full of companionship and conversation.

• Senior Health: Bayside is looking for volunteers who are qualified to take senior blood pressure after our Tuesday and Thursday morning Feeling Fit classes. We are also in need of volunteers to accompany our caseworkers to the homes of partcipants in our Senior STEPS program to take blood pressure. (Tues-Thurs from 8am-3pm).
• Senior Social Networking: New volunteer Opportunity! Use your existing computer skills to train homebound seniors! This is a new program we are starting in mid February. We will introduce 20 homebound seniors to the world of electronic communication.
