On Thursday, July 21, 2011 over 100 people turned out for the Linda Vista Community Garden Groundbreaking Ceremony at Bayside. Attendees included politicians, academics, seniors, community cultural groups, community leaders, sustainable food advocates and philanthropists. Speakers included Jorge Riquelme, the Executive Director of Bayside, Councilwoman Lorie Zapf (Council District 6), Vicky Rodiguez from LISC San Diego, Community Garden Coordinator, Janice Pezzoli. Allesandra Tharp from the Nissan Foundation presented Bayside with an award check of $15,000 for the garden project.
