For many years Bayside has served as a training site for students in established university professional programs such as nursing, social work and others; they receive academic credits each semester. Presently we work with the following professional programs.
The University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science & Azusa Pacific University School of Nursing place groups of student nurses at Bayside on a weekly basis. Services include blood pressure checks, medication reviews, health workshops and home visits to Bayside's senior community. While being a valuable asset to our senior community, this program also offers the nursing students a valuable hands-on field experience benefiting their future careers.
The University of Southern California School of Social Work requires their students to participate in yearlong placements that provide them with case management experience and projects related to their field of study. Examples of projects include planning field trips for seniors and developing resource manuals.
