San Diego Continuing Education

Partnerships and collaborations play an important role in the success and offerings that Bayside can provide.  For many years Bayside has benefited from an important partnership with San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE).  The classes listed below provide a diverse, personal, and professional enrichment opportunity to the San Diego Community. Classes are free.

Sew Like a Professional

Achieve professional standards of workmanship.  Use new fabrics, different types of sewing machines, industrial techniques and learn advanced skills that will add personal fit, distinctive details and custom finishes to your sewn projects business.  This class puts emphasis on commercial, custom and timesaving techniques.  Sewing skills recommended.  Instruction includes demonstrations, lecture and hands-on sewing lab.  Prerequisite:  Sewing Fundamentals or instructor's consent.  Classes are free and pre-registration required for enrollment.  Visit www.sdce.edu

Health and Wellness for the Aging Process: Multi-level Activity 

For age 55+ who engage in health and physical activities at multiple levels of activity.  All classes in this category provide a focus on health content which is supported by physical activities that include a combination of chair and standing exercises, strength training, stretching and stress reduction techniques.  Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for physical activities.  Class is free, all levels are welcome.

Body Dynamics / Aging Process: Feeling Fit and Healthy

This is a comprehensive wellness program in collaboration with Aging and Independence Services (AIS) that promotes improvement in balance, fall prevention, strength mental health and resistance to chronic illness.  Health related activities performed sitting and/or standing.  Class is free and all 55+ are welcome.

Mary_Prine

Mary Burns Prine is an instructor for San Diego Continuing Education, which is part of San Diego Community College District.  She has taught over 25 years for the college, and has been at Bayside since 2003.  She holds a master's degree in Exercise Science.
