| The Orchestra Music Classes provide an opportunity for community members to learn and perform the music of today and yesteryear. Time & LocationThursday 6:00pm-9:00pm - No classes August 2011. Classes resume September 8th, 2011. InstructorHal Jellison has always had a love for music. After serving 26 years as a Marine officer, he earned two graduate degrees and became a band high school teacher. While a student, he played piano in jazz bands at Mesa College and San Diego State University. Subsequently he played piano in nine local area concert bands. For the last 16 years, Hal has been an adjunct professor of San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) Continuing Education, where he has taught two piano classes and “Music Experiences for Older Adults” in various convalescent settings. Being concerned about the decline of the music of “Great American Songbook”, he wrote a proposal for an Orchestra Workshop/ Dance Band Combo. It was approved and the class began in the spring semester three years ago at Bayside Community Center. Hal loves the program at Bayside and encourages more participation from community members.
